As much as we loved Great Harbour, we were excited to move on and check out another part of the Berrys.
We had a slow sail/motor around Great Harbour Cay in some of the most stunning water I’ve ever seen, and dropped the hook with four other boats in the lee of Soldier Cay. We chose Solider Cay in the Market Fish Cays since it was well-protected from the predicted wind and noted for its beauty, and the guide book didn’t lie. We launched Squall and walked around ashore – I wish I could have captured the smell.
Sunset was one of the most beautiful I’ve seen, and other than a minor swell wrapping around the island, it felt great to spend a calm, beautiful night at anchor. Any fleeting thoughts we may have had about sticking around and spending more time in this area were quickly dispelled as the wind continued to shift and make the anchorage less comfortable. As the sun came up, so did our anchor and we were on our way to Spanish Wells.
