Anchored off Elbow

I got my toes in the water, ass in the sand
Not a worry in the world, cold beer in my hand
Life is good today, life is good today

– Toes, Zac Brown Band

Picture the perfect beach. Do you see palm trees? Crystal blue water? White sand – maybe a crescent beach that emerges at low tide? If that’s what you imagine, add Tahiti Beach to your list of must-visit places.

Our original plan had been to go to Man-O-War Cay, but we decided to stop at Tahiti instead since we didn’t get there while we were in Hope Town. We had it almost to ourselves, and it was nice to spend quiet time at the beach since we haven’t gotten to do much of that. The next morning, we were treated to a sunrise rainbow, and ours were the first footprints in the sand of the day.

Scenes from our afternoon on Tahiti Beach (I even caught a sting ray gliding by at the end)

After a couple days at Tahiti, we moved over to the anchorage off of Firefly. We had been waiting for the Thirsty Cuda, a floating beach bar that anchors off the beach, but was a bit breezy so they didn’t come out… but of course as soon as we moved, they showed up. We were still just a quick dinghy ride away so we took our lunch break to go visit, and the food was really good! They also introduced me to one of my favorite songs I’ve heard here in the Bahamas – Eddie Minnis’s “Nassau People”. And since we were right there, we took advantage of the chance to dinghy in to Firefly for dinner and drinks.

I love being out on anchor, and it was good to spend those few days floating out there enjoying the slow pace of life on the hook.
