It’s always hard leaving a place once you fall in love with it, but at the same time, it feels good to be on the move again. We took the morning to provision and load up on fuel and water and take a final walk on the beach before saying goodbye to Hope Town.
Our original plan had been to go to Little Harbour for the weekend, but the entrance is shallow and we can only get in at the top of the tide, so we decided to anchor up off Lynyard Cay for the night and see about heading in to Little Harbor the next morning.
After we got settled in, we hopped in the water for a late afternoon snorkel – the first time we actually got to snorkel from Squall. There was a small patch reef not too far from where we dropped the hook, and while we didn’t have high hopes, we thought it would be a good excuse to get in the water. We ended up being pleasantly surprised and saw all kinds of cool fish, along with some elkhorn and brain corals. I’m getting a lot more comfortable breathing in the water, and I’m so happy to have my own snorkel gear.
Sunday was windy and we ended up deciding against sailing to Little Harbour – we were really bummed but the entrance looked rolly and uncomfortable. Instead we spent the day relaxing aboard, and it was a nice change of pace.
We passed our friends on Vindaloo as we sailed towards Man-O-War (to windward, of course), and they tried to talk us into going to Little Harbor, but we were concerned that we might not be able to work there since it’s so remote. Even beating to windward, the sailing was amazing, although definitely rough as we passed the cuts.
