We sailed off the anchor this morning, making about as much leeway as headway between the current and almost non-existent breeze, but it was nice to just sail for a little bit. After a half hour with no wind filling in, we gave up and awoke Puff (our nickname for our engine) from his slumber once more.
We only saw four other boats all day, and when we arrived at Great Sale Cay, we had the anchorage entirely to ourselves. Just before we left Huguenot, a friend brought us a bottle of champagne to keep in reserve for our arrival. We decided the best place to celebrate our arrival would be our first deserted island, and Great Sale certainly qualified. We packed up one of the nice cheeses I’d bought for Christmas Eve (that we obviously never got around to having), some crackers and a fig sausage, along with the champagne, and took Squall ashore.
Other than our uninvited guests, the no-see-ums, it was beautiful, and it was a perfect celebration of our arrival. I still can’t get over the color of the water or the warm, sunny days. And it’s hard to believe we had the anchorage all to ourselves since I’ve seen Great Sale Cay is a popular anchoring spot.

Wonderful!!’
What a great time you make! How did you 2 meet and did you both love sailing or did one of you convince the other?
We met in high school, and Chris was definitely the sailor of the two of us. I had never sailed until he took me out the first time. It took a long time for me to develop a true love for it, but I’m so glad I did!
